Majareta
Majareta follows Leo Almada, a school caretaker whose early retirement sparks curiosity and gossip in his neighbourhood. Leo’s neighbours and acquaintances have different, often contradictory, views on him. It mixes humour, social insight and human emotion to explore how truth is shaped by perception and how one person can be seen in many ways by those around them.

A grandmother and granddaughter narrate in alternating chapters the dark history of a crumbling house in rural Spain — a place haunted not only by ghosts, but by generations of class violence, patriarchal abuse, and the quiet, burning desire for revenge.
Guille is a gentle, imaginative nine-year-old who wants to be Mary Poppins when he grows up. Told through four voices — the boy, his struggling father, a curious teacher, and a school counselor — this tender novel reveals what people will do to protect those they love.
After thirty years as a school janitor, Leo Almada is suddenly forced into early retirement — and does something that shocks the whole neighborhood. Told through a mosaic of gossipy, contradictory testimonies, the novel asks: who was Leo, really, and does anyone ever truly know another person?
